Anglican Diocese of New Westminster Archive

The Collection consists of official records of the Diocese of New Westminster, personal collections and records of related organizations with historical value, including report on Chinese.

Barkerville Historic Town and Resource Centre
Barkerville has one of the largest Chinese archival collections in Canada.  Information on its collections can be retrieved by searching the catalogue of  “Historical Chinese Language  Materials in British Columbia”  (Search by Holding Location using Barkerville.  Also click here for details on descriptions of holdings.

British Columbia Archives
The archives provides research access to government records, private letters and journals, books, maps, paintings, drawings, prints, sound recordings and moving images, with a number of Chinese fonds available.

The B.C. Conference of the United Church of Canada, Bob Stewart Archives
Records of different types of Churches within British Columbia, and church-related documents. Inclusive dates: 1859-2009. Fonds on Chinese: Foreign Mission Committee and
Oriental Home and School.

Chinese Canadian Military Museum 加拿大华裔军事博物馆
The Museum collects photographs, documents, and artifacts that tell the story of Chinese-Canadian soldiers in both world wars. Stories and photographs of veterans who served in WWII are available on the website.

Chinese Canadian Stories Collections 加华纪事
These digitized collections include Chinese Canadian historical materials in the holdings of UBC Library, SFU Library, City of Vancouver Archives, Community Historical Recognition Program (CHRP) community partners, and other community contributors.

Its collection includes: archival materials, books, photos, magazines and miscellaneous.

Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver Museum and Archives

The holdings include donated art collections, paintings, artifacts, photographs, as well as newspaper clippings, programs, exhibition catalogues, pamphlets and posters on community events organized by the organization since its inception in 1972.

 The Chung Collection (UBC) 卑诗大学蒋氏珍藏
Archival documents, photographs, artifacts and books related to: immigration and settlement in Canada, especially Chinese immigration; development of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company; and, B.C.’s history from the earliest European explorers. Some items are in Chinese.

 City of Richmond Archives
The holdings consist of official City records, such as Council Minutes and Bylaws, as well as records generated by private individuals and organizations.  Click here for the Guide to Early Records of Chinese Canadians in Richmond.

City of Vancouver Archives
The holdings consist of: government records and publications; private sector records; visual records such as photographs, maps and plans, documentary art…etc.  A number of Chinese fonds are available: Chinese Students’ Athletic Association Fonds, Lambert M. Sung Fonds, Kuo Kong Silk Company Fonds, Sam Kee Company Fonds, Yip Family and Yip Sang Ltd. Fonds.

City of Victoria Archives
The Archives is the official repository for city government records and private records of permanent value. The private records relate to business, organizations and individuals of Greater Victoria and  several Chinese fonds are included.

Delta Museum and Archives
The holdings consist of both municipal and community records, as well as non-archival material such as publications, research files, periodicals, brochures and pamphlets. Photographs Collection has photos on Chinese working in farms, canneries, fishing and scenes of Chinatown. Also available is the Chung Family Fonds.

Langley Centennial Museum
The archival holdings include records and documents, ranging from correspondence and minute books to newspaper, maps and photographs.  Kwong Lee Trading Company Fonds is available. 

Library and Archives Canada
The Library and Archives Canada (LAC) collection includes a variety of materials about early Chinese Canadians.

Nanaimo Community Archives
The holdings consist of documents, photographs, maps, memorabilia and other materials from the public and private sectors. Records date from 1852 to the present. A number of Chinese fonds are preserved.

New Westminster Museum and Archives
The Archives holds historic photographs and other items such as maps, plans, diaries, letters, city records and oral histories. Chinese Fonds are available.

University of British Columbia Archives
The Archives acquires corporate records created or received by University officers and employees in the course of their duties on behalf of the institution. It also holds the private fonds, such as Chinese Canadian Research Collection Fonds.

University of British Columbia Rare Books and Special Collections 
The collection comprises of rare books, historic maps, photographs, broadsides, pamphlets and archival materials relating to the Chinese, Japanese, Sikh and Swedish communities in the province. Chinese fonds are available.

University of Victoria Archives
The Archives preserves private archives of individuals and organizations associated with the university and its predecessors. Inclusive dates are 1780-2009. Chinese fonds are available.

Vancouver Museum
The Museum Chinese Canadian collection consists of household items, clothing, account books, Chinese textbooks, novels, Bible, magazines, Chinese typewriter and miscellaneous.

Yale Historic Site
A National Historic Site monument to Chinese railroad workers is the first monument in Canada to be inscribed in English, French and Chinese.
